The
top spinner is a ball that will carry straight on. But, the top spin will make
it 1) bounce higher (as it hits the pitch at a steeper angle) and 2) dip the
most of all type deliveries.
The grip is exactly the same
as that of the off-spinner delivery; it is just the wrist position that
changes.
Ø Release
For the top-spinner the back
of the wrist should face towards mid-wicket and the seam should run down the
length of the pitch.
Ø Same speed as stock ball
The ball is bowled with the
same speed. Do not try and bowl the top spinner too fast. You do not want to
surprise the batsman with the pace of the ball in the air.
Rather you want the ball to
look like a normal off spin delivery but then really dip, kick and bounce
straight (due to the top spin) after pitching.

position of the top spinner looking from behind.
